Community Service: Father Ray's Day Care
The day starts with the whole 8th grade getting ready to head to the Montri Buses. As we got on and ready to depart I forgot to bring stuff to do since its a 2 hour ride. So I tried sleeping which didn't work since everyone was so hyped up. The whole point of the trip was community service, I got that so I ended up looking out the window the whole time. Then later I fell asleep due to hunger. When we got to our destination, we had to be in groups. Apparently, the girls overcame us since they were so little of us and so much of them. We were expected to act like caring people and don't leave anyone out. After we came to our zone for 40 minutes, there were 5 boys and I think 7 girls? I had to volunteer to go with 3 girls because this happened last year so I don't really mind. We played with the kids and such which I think was fun but when the REAL community service came, my muscles ached for the weekends. We had to go to the storage and reorganize the shelves of food to their rightful place. I even got on the forklift but still we had to put some boxes up there. But the thing that matters the most is that you know that by doing a little thing, you already helped the kids. Then we went to eat at the restaurant, the food was ok. Then back to school with the 2 hour ride. It was fun helping and playing with the kids and I enjoyed it.
Napoléon le parc à thème (Napoleon Theme Park)
France has decided to build a theme park based on the well-known french leader, Napoleon Bonaparte. You can read the article here: Napoleon.... the theme park But the thing is that will this and how would this help people learn and appreciate history? Well for starters, people don't like to listen in a classroom and hear the professor or the educator lecture them. They want other type of teaching devices, for example, videos. I watch the history channel during my free-time. But I'm mostly interested in World Wars but that's not the topic here. Also in the blueprints of the theme park, there was battle re-enactment. I think that is very very helpful to people trying to enjoy the park or just came to learn the basic background knowledge.
When people actually go and enjoy something, they learn something from it. Like if you play video games and you enjoy it, you learn how to...... . If you enjoy hacking and computing (like me), you learn something because you want to expand what you just experienced. So for instance, a random french dude goes to the park. He then heads to the Bastille zone, and did a little sight-seeing around it. Then he learns that there are battle re-enactment and enjoyed seeing it the battle. He might want to learn what happens after that battle and expands what he just learned.
So, I would like to go to the theme park anyway. Just to have fun.

Courage; From ember to blazing flames
Courage starts out something small like a ember. Then in life as you stand up for someone or something, that ember grows and grows. Yes, courage can develop in life but only by your actions. You cannot except courage to be develop if you aren't doing anything. There are many times of courage, for example, social courage, mental courage, physical courage, intellectual courage, moral courage, and emotional courage. Courage can be developed by showing action in each category. An ember starts small like one single act of courage, shy and scared. If you show courage once and doesn't show it again, its like dousing the ember. But if you keep showing more and more courage, its like give that small ember, wood. You want it to develop into something else. With more and more acts of courage, that small ember will soon be developed into blazing flames shining in the night. Yet, you cannot just leave it alone. You might have a blazing fire inside but every fire will be doused without any attention. Its like a forest fire, forest fire doesn't last throughout the ages. They die slowly. I recently saw on the news a really old man who had polio. He was on Channel 3 Thai News yesterday. When he was a child, he didn't have polio but when his parent found out that he did, his parent threw him away. He has shown great acts of physical courage and social courage. He needs a stick to walk and he couldn't talk for polio paralyzed him. So he has a translator. But still he tried to speak and he doesn't care what others thought of him. That shows great act of physical courage (needing a stick to walk) and social courage (trying to speak even though he can't). Yet, in his paralyzed state, he has donated 1 million baht to a temple. He asks for money when he can and others feel sad for him. I think this man should deserve some respect. So at the end, courage is everywhere, but you don't really notice it. Others do.

American Revolution: Patriots or Terrorist??
In the american revolution many acts, or laws, were passed to benefit the mother country or England herself. The colonist had no voice in the parliament at all because they had no representative to represent them but still England didn't allow the colonist to join in due to them in favor of VIRTUAL representation.
So what did the colonist do? They started a group called the sons of liberty to fight against the British and its acts. They would boycott British customs and beat-up taxation officers. They were still loyal but this was just unreasonable.
An example of something like this would be the current violence in Damascus, Syria. A group of rebels (Arab League) are rioting due to their current leader, President Bashar al-Assad. The people their wants their president to stop violence against civilians, free political detainees, remove tanks and weapons from cities, and allow outsiders, including the international news media, to travel freely in Syria. [For more information; http://edition.cnn.com/2012/01/28/world/meast/syria-unrest/index.html?hpt=wo_c1] Even though some people call these terrorist, basically those people are Loyalists, people also call them heros (*cough* *cough* patriots *cough*).
So, would they be classified as patriots or terrorists? From my perspective they would be classified as PATRIOTS. They fought for their rights and their demand for equality. If they were terrorist, they would have one leader in charge of everything. But the sons of liberty didn't. They came together and discuss plans even without talking together they still know what to do. They were brave and stand up toward an opposition with weapons and highly-trained soldiers while they had nothing yet they made due to their supplies. If you think they would be terrorist then I think you would be on the British perspective.
